The standard formula assumes a 40-hour workweek for 52 weeks a year (2,080 working hours annually):

Annual salary = Hourly rate × 40 hours × 52 weeks

So a $25/hour job works out to $52,000/year. You can adjust the hours per week in the calculator above to account for part-time schedules or jobs with different standard hours.

Other Pay Period Formulas

• Weekly: Hourly rate × hours per week
• Biweekly (every 2 weeks): Weekly pay × 2
• Semi-monthly (twice a month): Annual ÷ 24
• Monthly: Annual ÷ 12

Note that biweekly (26 pay periods/year) and semi-monthly (24 pay periods/year) are different. Many employers use biweekly payroll, which means twice a year you receive 3 paychecks in a month.
