What Gets Deducted From Your Paycheck

Federal Income Tax

Calculated using 2026 progressive brackets after your standard deduction. Your effective rate is almost always lower than your marginal (top) rate.

FICA Taxes

Social Security (6.2%) on wages up to $176,100 and Medicare (1.45%) on all wages. High earners also owe 0.9% additional Medicare on wages over $200k.

State Income Tax

Ranges from 0% in Texas and Florida to 9.9% in Oregon. Nine states have no income tax on wages. We apply a simplified flat rate for estimation.
